Concept drawing based on the four seasons as the four elements of ancient mythology.
Winter air chills to the bone, bringing a desire for fire and warmth, but filling the night with darkness, snow, and ice. The air itself is cold and steals the warmth from the body, wrapping and enveloping, and bringing white to all it touches.
Inspired by Winter and the effect that the air has on the Winter, the gown is white on white patterned silk, with white embroidery that mimics the swirls of snow in the wind. The hem of the dress is embroidered with silver swirls to show the heavier snows that freeze around your feet.
Atop the gown is a velvet cape, connected at one shoulder with a silver clasp, like the full moon on a January evening. The cape is appliqued with a snowy mountain scene, and the full moon covers the shoulders. The appliques are in silk or chiffon layers so that the entire cape is slightly vague.
The final touch is a short fringe at the bottom of the cape - picking up every stray breeze to remind the viewer of the air that moves around the wearer. The one shoulder design also brings air to the wearer - even if she does have the cape to keep warm with.
