Concept drawing based on the four seasons as the four elements of ancient mythology.
One of the best things about Summer is Water. Cool water on a hot day can seem like the greatest things in the world, so there is a very strong association of water and summer activities.
Gown has two forward slits to allow the skirt to move like the waves when wearer is walking. Separate arm pieces allow air to touch the skin and keep it cool while maintaining the dignity of a kimono. Gown is gathered in the back to add to the 'swish' of movement, and chainmaile in aluminum is used to connect the back of the dress to the back of the halter style top.
Patterned lightweight acetate satin gives visual texture to the basic gown while effects are borne out with multiple layers of chiffon appliqued to achieve wave patterns. Sleeves are made of layers of chiffon so that the colors should flow together.
